All The Answers for 2021-2022 School Year
We are very excited to reopen our after school program, PS29+ to the PS29 community for the 2021-2022 school year. We have been working diligently over the summer to put together our Kids Club program and Course Catalogue to reflect our new reality as we continue to mitigate risk for the Covid-19 virus. Our first goal is to keep the students safe, while also providing them enrichment and fun during the after school hours. HOW DOES THE REGISTRATION WORK?
November 22nd - Registration Opens for Kids Club, EKC, and “Waitlist Only Registration” for Courses
Kids Club is direct registration, meaning you register and are given a spot directly until all the spots are filled
If you need coverage for the week of January 3rd, our as-needed care "EKC" is available daily from 2:50-4:20pm and/or 4:20-6pm.
Courses are open for “waitlist only” registration so that we may run the course lottery the week of December 13th. Your course is not guaranteed until it is confirmed in the Parent Portal the week of December 13th. Please, as a courtesy to our fellow families, do not register for more than 2 courses during the “Waitlist Only Registration” period
THE REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR COURSES:
Lottery open between November 22 - December 3
Week of December 13th Lottery results are emailed and direct registration opens
“Free” Drop period between December 13 - December 23
50% Drop fee Monday December 24 - January 2
NO REFUNDS after January 3rd, Courses Begin January 10th
WHAT COVID PRECAUTIONS ARE YOU TAKING?
At PS29+, we are layering several covid precautions to keep the students safe.
1) Students will be outdoors as much as possible
2) All staff and students will be wearing masks regardless of vaccination status
3) While indoors, wherever possible, students will be kept apart using 3ft of social distancing.
WHAT IS THE PROTOCOL IF THERE IS A POSITIVE CASE?
If there is a positive case within PS29+ any student who is considered a “close contact” will be notified. We will adhere to the procedure for positive cases that will be outlined by the DOE which we are awaiting.
ARE YOU REQUIRING ALL YOUR STAFF TO BE VACCINATED?
DOE staff will adhere to DOE guidelines for vaccination which (as of 8/23) includes full vaccination or a medical exemption. PS29+ staff (that are not DOE staff) and PS29 vendors are required to be fully vaccinated by the start of school on 9/13.
WILL MY CHILD HAVE TO WEAR A MASK OUTDOORS?
As of Aug 15, 2021 the DOE requires masks both indoors and outdoors. If this policy is updated, PS29+ may update the policy to reflect new guidance from the DOE.
WHERE WILL THE STUDENTS EAT SNACK?
Students will either eat snack in the cafeteria, outer cafeteria, auditorium areas, with 3ft social distancing, or outside in the school yard. The students will rotate days for inside and outside snack.
WILL YOU BE SOCIAL DISTANCING?
Yes, we are utilizing several of the school’s larger spaces for indoor activities like the auditorium, gym and cafeteria so that the students can be socially distanced as much as possible using the 3ft rule. The schoolyard will be used everyday (when weather permits) for the students to spread out as much as possible.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD HAS TO QUARANTINE?
If your child has to quarantine due to a school exposure they will not be permitted to attend PS29+ After School until cleared to go back to school for class.
HOW DOES THE LOTTERY WORK?
During our registration period, November 22 - December 3, we ask that you place yourself on the waitlist for no more than 2 courses. Course lotteries will be run the week of 12/13 and you will be notified of your course registrations the week of December 13th. At that time, you may also direct register for any courses that still have openings.
HOW MANY COURSES CAN I PLACE MY CHILD ON THE WAITLIST FOR?
During the "Waitlist Only Registration" period from 11/22-12/3, we ask that families limit their waitlist registrations to 2 courses per child. After all course assignments go out there will be a chance to enroll in more courses during the "Direct Registration" period starting from 12/13.
HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK WHEN I DON'T KNOW MY COURSES YET?
During "waitlist registration period" your payment method is required, but not charged. You will not be charged until January 15th for the first installment for courses.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE HAVE INCLEMENT WEATHER?
In the event of inclement weather, parents will have the option to pick up their child at 2:50 rather than send them to Kids Club if they prefer, but your account will still be charged for the day. Please visit the "Kids Club" tab for more.
WILL MY CHILD HAVE TIME TO DO THEIR HOMEWORK?
Yes, all children in grades 1-5 will have designated time for homework each day.
WHAT DO I DO IF I ENROLL MY CHILD FOR A KIDS CLUB DAY OR COURSE IN ERROR?
For any errors in enrollment for either Kids Club or courses, we have to delete it in the back end of our software. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your child's name and the course you want to delete and we will take care of it!
WHAT DO I DO IF I CAN'T LOGIN TO MY PREVIOUSLY EXISTING ACCOUNT IN THE PARENT PORTAL?
Some families may have been archived in our software due to inactivity. If you had a Parent Portal account in the past but can't access it now, please email us at email@example.com with your child's name and the email you used to login and we will restore your account.
