All The Answers for 2022-2023 School Year

Welcome back to yet another school year. We have been working diligently over the summer to put together our Kids Club program and Course Catalogue for the new school year. This list of FAQ’s is a guide for the questions you may have, if there is something you have a question about that is not addressed here, please email us at info@ps29plus.com.

HOW DOES THE REGISTRATION WORK?

August 16th - Direct Registration Begins for Kids Club

  • Kids Club is direct registration, meaning you register and are given a spot directly until all the spots are filled

August 29st - Course Catalogue is Released for Viewing on website and the Parent Portal. Registration Opens for “Waitlist Only Registration” for Courses aka, "the Course Lottery"

  • Courses are open for “waitlist only” registration so that we may run the course lottery during the week of September 11th.  Your course is not guaranteed until it is confirmed in the Parent Portal on September 16th.  Please, as a courtesy to our fellow families, do not register for more than 2 courses during the “Waitlist Only Registration” period 

THE REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR COURSES:

  • Lottery open between August 29 - September 11

  • September 16: Lottery results are uploaded to Parent Portal and direct registration opens for available spots.

  • “Free” Drop period between September 16 - 23

  • 50% Drop fee in effect September 24 - October 1

  • NO REFUNDS after October 2 

  • Courses Begin October 3

HOW DOES THE LOTTERY WORK?

During our registration period, August 29 - September 11, we ask that you place yourself on the waitlist for no more than 2 courses.  Course lotteries will be run the week of 9/11 and you will be notified of your course registrations on 9/16.  At that time, you will be able to direct register for any courses that still have openings.

HOW MANY COURSES CAN I PLACE MY CHILD ON THE WAITLIST FOR?

During the "Waitlist Only Registration" period from 8/29-9/11, we ask that families limit their waitlist registrations to 2 courses per child. After all course assignments go out there will be a chance to enroll in more courses during the "Direct Registration" period starting from 9/16.

HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK WHEN I DON'T KNOW MY COURSES YET?

During "waitlist registration period" your payment method is required, but not charged.  You will not be charged until October 15th for the first installment for courses. 

WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE FOR KIDS CLUB EVERYDAY?

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE HAVE INCLEMENT WEATHER?

In the event of inclement weather, Kids Club will be indoors at PS29.  We will utilize large spaces like the cafeteria and auditorium as much as possible. Please visit the "Kids Club" tab for more.

WILL MY CHILD HAVE TIME TO DO THEIR HOMEWORK?

Yes, all children in grades 1-5 will have designated time for homework each day.

WHAT DO I DO IF I ENROLL MY CHILD FOR A KIDS CLUB DAY OR COURSE IN ERROR?

For any errors in enrollment for either Kids Club or courses, we have to delete it in the back end of our software.  Please email us at info@ps29plus.com with your child's name and the course you want to delete and we will take care of it! 

WHAT DO I DO IF I CAN'T LOGIN TO MY PREVIOUSLY EXISTING ACCOUNT IN THE PARENT PORTAL?

Some families may have been archived in our software due to inactivity.  If you had a Parent Portal account in the past but can't access it now, please email us at info@ps29plus.com with your child's name and the email you used to login and we will restore your account. 

COVID-19 RELATED QUESTIONS:

ARE YOU REQUIRING ALL YOUR STAFF TO BE VACCINATED?

DOE staff will adhere to DOE guidelines for vaccination which (as of 8/23) includes full vaccination or a medical exemption.  PS29+ staff (that are not DOE staff) and PS29 vendors are required to be fully vaccinated by the start of school on 9/8.

WHAT IS THE PROTOCOL IF THERE IS A POSITIVE CASE?

If there is a positive case within PS29+ any student who is considered a “close contact” will be notified. We will adhere to the procedure for positive cases that will be outlined by the DOE which we are awaiting.

WILL MY CHILD HAVE TO WEAR A MASK?

 As of June 13, including students in early childhood schools or programs, New York State no longer requires mask wearing in schools.  Anyone who chooses to wear a face covering may continue to do so, and your child may request a mask from our program if they need one. Face coverings are strongly recommended for any of our staff member or student who knows they have been exposed to COVID-19 within the previous 10 days. Wearing a face coverings is still required in medical rooms and nurses’ offices. Nurse Pam will have face coverings on hand for anyone entering who may need one.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD HAS TO QUARANTINE?

If your child has to quarantine due to a school exposure they will not be permitted to attend PS29+ After School until cleared to go back to school for class.
